Lets Go Dancing!

My friend Alyssa and I got ready together last night to go out dancing, and my Mom insisted on taking our pictures. I felt very Marilyn Monroe in this classy halter with polka dots and for $20 the price was right! Alyssa picked up her fabulous dress and boots at a little store called En Vogue about an hour before the photos were taken. I love last minute shopping adventures!

My outfit details:
Dress: Ross Dress For Less $20
Sequined pumps: Forever 21 $22
Earrings: Styles for Less $4

Oh Happy Day

Yesterday was stormy again and I realize I'm really not a rain person. My wardrobe is very much suited for sunny warm weather. So I wore this bright yellow cardigan and flowery top to make things better. I just want to throw it out there that you should never underestimate the power of wearing bright colors. In my experience I always feel a little more cheery when I wear them. Hope everyone has a fun filled weekend! :)

much love,
kerri

ps. Don't you think Natalya's last post was amazing. I read it this morning and it made me think about all these happy things in my life right now. I just want to publicly say thanks to Natalya! :)

Happiness is.....

...feeling comfortable in my own skin.
...sticking to my principles even when the going gets tough and the odds are against me.
...watching my neice toddle around in youtube videos sent from my brother and his family in Israel.
...wearing a crazy outfit and risking getting weird looks... and feeling like a million bucks anyway!

...telling a friend/loved one how much greatness I see in them, when they can't see it for themselves.

What makes you happy?

On a Hot Pink Cloud

It was so windy and rainy yesterday, which explains my funny expressions here. When we were looking for a photo session opportunity Kerri and I ran outside to take pictures at a moment when the rain let up, but the wind was still at it so we look rather wind-blown. Anyways, this colorblock dress I found was such a steal at $7 and although I bought it last summer, I decided to turn it into a winter look by adding tights, boots and a blazer because a great thing about the trends this winter are the bright colors being worn. Who says you have to look drab in the winter? I certainly don't!

Outfit Details:

Dress: Styles for Less $7
Tights: Target $7
Boots: Gift from Mom three winters ago - Nordstrom
Blazer: Gift from Mom two winters ago - H&M
Necklace: Walmart $5

Plaid Love

Today I wore my favorite new plaid shirt (well it is new to me). I picked it up at Buffalo Exchange and I really like the colors. I paired it with my favorite boots, cozy sweater and messy rainy day braid and was ready to tough out this storm. You can't really tell from the photos, but it has been pouring buckets here!

Top: Buffalo Exchange $8
Jeans: Buffalo Exchange $16
Necklace: Melrose Trading Post $6
Sweater: Element (gift)
Boots: Simply Vera ($50, gift)

Random thought: all of this rain is really making me want to go snowboarding. Anyone agree with me?! Hopefully I can make the trip up to the mountains sometime soon. :)

I Clashed Black and Brown and Liked It!

My goal today was to clash black and brown to prove I could break a style "rule" successfully. I think I did well, I felt great in this outfit all day, although there was a torrential downpour of rain on my lunch break which made me regret wearing a short skirt. But after that cloud passed, figuratively and physically, I went back to feeling great in this outfit. I loved pairing the unlikely duo of my animal print top with my sparkly miniskirt. What do you think? Did I successfully break the rule of not wearing black and brown together?

Here are the outfit details:

Leopard top: hand-me-down from step-mom
Skirt: Forever 21
Tights: Wal-Mart $5
Booties: Target $30
Leather Jacket: Target
Gold leaf necklace: Target

Weather Appropriate

It's super stormy where we are at right now with lots and lots of rain. With thunder and lightening right now as I type! My poor puppy is stressing with the thunder - it scares him. So these pictures are taken under the awning at work. I wore my typical black sheath that I've worn before for Holiday Cheer and Help from my Friends, but this time I wore a blouse under it. I'd say its pretty work appropriate, especially with my new black trench my bf bought me when I was in Japan. :)

Natalya and I were happy that the rain was sort of letting up. And then after work we get this....
Lovely pink cotton candy clouds. This picture really doesn't do them justice, because they were quite pretty.

Etsy Finds, DIY, and Such

Isn't this necklace awesome? I was browsing the necklaces on Etsy and found this, and love the colors and how unique it is. And for only $15 I might just have to snatch it up! For some reason I really like anything with big flowers on it. Take for example this beauty right here from Anthropologie, this is exactly what I would want from a necklace with flowers. It sort of has a nautical feel with the ropes and chains.
Sadly, this beaut is going for a whopping $228. Yes, you read that right, $228! Ridiculous. But still very pretty.
Well, what about this one with cute little red poppies from here. I think this would go super cute with a navy blue button up or something of that nature. Super cute and only $15, but still not quite the same as the Anthro necklace.
This one is really cute too, and they called it the "Kerri Necklace"! Its sort of calling my name, literally. I really like the yellow with the gray, but its still not the right kind of flower!
~
So, I've decided I'm going to try and make my own - a lil' DIY if you will. I've made just one so far, and I think it's a little too full to go on a necklace. What do you think? I'll try and wear it one of these days so you get the full effect.
Anyways thanks for the read :)

Rainy Days Are Not Allowed - According to me!

I was making funny faces at Kerri while she was taking pictures, which explains my funny expressions.... I know, can't take me anywhere!

Oh rainy day, here you are! Kerri took my photos in the stairwell at work because the wind and rain were too strong to be any good to our outfits today. Living in southern California I feel almost insulted when we get rain because it happens so seldom that I tend to take the sunny beauty for granted and act like a spoiled child. I really do appreciate and have gratitude for our almost always pleasant weather though, because we are so lucky here. Anyways, about the outfit:
Fedora: gift from Dad
Tunic: gift from Dad (he has good taste, doesnt he? ;) )
Belt: Free with a tunic I bought
Leggings: Forever 21 $5?
Boots: Gift from Mom 2 winters ago
Leather Jacket; Target $70?
Purse: Ross Dress for Less (new) $20
XOXO,
Natalya
